Non-sampling errors are errors that occur during data collection, processing, or analysis that are *not* due to the random selection of a sample. Unlike sampling errors, which are inherent in the sampling process, non-sampling errors are preventable and can be minimized through careful planning and execution. Examples include data entry errors, poorly worded survey questions, and non-response bias.
